AudioAcademy and Late Nites Present Hatiras

OMFG…AUDIO ACADEMY WELCOMES HATIRAS!
Here at Audio Academy we are beyond excited to share some massive and VERY exciting news with all of you. As you know we are fully committed to giving young, promising DJs the tools they need to succeed in the highly competitive arena known as the music industry. We pride ourselves not just on our outlandishly good looks and awesome dancing abilities (both of which are pretty unbelievable), but also on supplying the talented artists who make up The Toronto Collective with education, challenges and support. Well now we can add one more thing to that list: no-strings-attached, life-changing opportunities to play opening sets for some of the biggest DJs on the scene!
That’s right – once a month we will be bringing in world class DJs to the city of Toronto and we’ll be giving the opening spot to one of our 15 boys from The Collective. Are you thinking, “Umm, ok, that’s great for them, but what’s in it for me”? Well for this month’s installment, we have managed to nab one of Canada’s most beloved home-grown talents to delight your ears and inspire you to bust out your dancing shoes; mark September 10, 2010 on your calendar, HATIRAS is coming to town! See? Everyone wins.
But in case you have been living under a rock in Arkansas for the past decade and you are unaware of HATIRAS’s long list of accomplishments, let us help to get you up to speed…
HATIRAS made his first unforgettable mark on the electronic music industry back in 2001 with his world-wide smash hit song, “Spaced Invader”. *check out the video below if your memory needs a jog.
Spaced Invader
Characterized by its euphoric EQ rushes and warp-speed Atari stabs, this track sky-rocketed his career – it was repeatedly acclaimed Pete Tong’s “essential new tune” that year and it managed to land the number 1 spot on both Coolcuts and the UK’s Buzz Chart. But this Canadian-bred talent is certainly no one-hit-wonder. For instance, another one of Hatiras’s massive hits is “Money Shot”:
Money Shot
Over the past 9 years, this musical mastermind has started not one, but TWO highly successful record labels (Blow Media (2004) and his more intimate, boutique label, Hatrax (2007)), and has done remixes for countless artists including the likes of pop diva Kylie Minogue, disco queen Loleatta Holloway, Kevin Irving, Junior Jack, Ministers de La Funk (Erick Morillo, Jose Nunez and Harry “Choo Choo” Romero), Tom Novy, Olav Basoski, Carole Pope, The Bomfunk MCs, MC Flipside, and Canadian idol winner Eva Avila to name a few.
He has also managed to rack up a Juno nomination and a nomination for Beatport’s Electro Artist of the year award in 2008.
Being a bit of a free spirit, Hatiras has recently become part of a tight group of DJs called Roots Society who perform annually at the craziest, most intense music festival around: Burning Man.
Video Proof of the Madness
In fact, Hatiras even married his wife at the festival in 2009! Luckily for all of us, only days after coming back from Buring Man, totally inspired and with a massive stock of new tunes, he will be gracing the stage at Revival nightclub to keep you dancing all night long.
We’re a few weeks out from the show but we’ve already sold 400 tickets. This will be a sold out show. If you need tickets, take a quick trip to www.ticketbreak.com/audioacademy to pick some up.
So now I’m sure you’re thinking that this event could not possibly get any better…well, SURPRISE – it does! On the night of September 10, we will also be having a very special guest performance
to kick the night off by the endlessly talented indie band, WHAT SHE SAID. This electric 6-piece band from Guelph, CA has gained tremendous popularity just from the buzz that circulates about their live shows. Their eclectic mix of funk, rock, soul, hip-hop and reggae creates a unique musical experience that would be a crime to miss. Check out their Myspace and preview some of their original songs.
We’re already counting down the sleeps until this sure to be unforgettable event. The question is: Where will YOU be on September 10th?
