When I say “Zeds Dead”, what comes to mind? If you said the end of the scene in Pulp Fiction where Bruce Willis goes postal with a samurai sword, you’re not wrong. But you’d be even more not wrong if you said it’s the collab between DC and Hooks that took the world by storm in 2009. These two good ol’ Canadian boys will be tearing up the Guelph Concert Theater on September 9th for the Frosh Week Finale, and AudioAcademy is giving you the chance to get up there and play an opening set for them for doing what you do best: making music. Thinking it’s a good idea to miss an opportunity like this would be like thinking it’s a good idea to jump ass first into a dildo factory.

Taking a bit of dubstep, electro, fidget, drum n bass and covering it all with a nice layer of grime, Zeds Dead have put their signature sounds to a 7 track EP as well as a whole whack of remixes showing their versatility with tracks ranging from the likes of Massive Attack to the Foo Fighters to Fenech Soler. (Little known fact: they’re contest winners too, they won the Salacious Sound remix contest of Barletta’s “Panther”) Now it’s time for you to do as they do.

How to Enter:

  1. Produce a vote-worthy, dancefloor destroying track or mix of any genre by 10:00am Sept 6th, 2011

Put together a 2 minute original track or mini mix, upload it to AudioAcademy, get a police issue bullhorn and let the world know you’re in it to win it. If amplifying your voice to the point where you deafen everyone within a 2 block radius isn’t your style, there’s always Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc… No matter how you do it, get people voting for your track and the next thing you know you might be on stage spinning the night away in front of hundreds of raging college kids. (If you haven’t played a show before, girls LOVE the DJ)
