About Us
Quite simply The Audio Academy is a place that we hope will provide a platform for aspiring DJ's and Producers to get a break. Unfortunately the way of the world, regardless of the industry or community you work in, dictates that it is often not solely down to your talent. We all require a bit of help along the way in order to reach our goals. By partnering with a variety of people that we have met on this journey we have been able to put together a compelling competition that can give that leg up to the DJ or Producer that is hungry enough to reach out and take it.
Not one of us is a DJ or a music producer we all just really love music. In particular, we love what DJ's can do with music. Truth be told this idea was formulated over a rather long (drunken) rant about what was wrong with the world today while one of our favourite albums played in the background. Somehow we went from the pros and cons of the Euro to coming up with this idea. The thing is though, like most good ideas, it just made complete sense. We can't spin wax. But a pile of people out there can. In fact, a lot of people out there can do it really well. And guess what, not all of those people are catching the breaks... just like us.
As we started to throw all manner of ideas at each other it became apparent that we could probably pull this thing together. As with most of these ideas it started and stalled and started and stalled. And now here we are. It has become a reality which in itself is an achievement. However, The Audio Academy will not be happy until we see one of our guys up there with a legend. Doing a set with a Theo Parrish, Deadmau5 or Dubfire or having his or her track remixed by Pete Tong or Nikodemus. It is about giving a little back to the DJ community or more accurately exposing the outside world to a little of the untapped DJ community. We believe wholeheartedly that there are literally thousands of superstars out there just waiting to be discovered. Right now they are grinding it out. Tomorrow, with the help of The Audio Academy, we want them to be on the road to realizing a dream. Not just once do we want to do this. We ARE going to continue to provide these opportunities for you, our community. God it feels good to say that. We are going to continue to provide you, our community, with opportunities to make it. To make dreams come true. To step over the shit that gets thrown in your way every day on the grind.
By the way, the album that was playing in the background that night was Songs in The Key of Life by Stevie Wonder. Good things happen with Stevie. Just saying.

The first time you remember a DJ bringing a room higher when you thought it had topped out:
Two great moments quickly come to mind. At the top of that list was my first "big-room" experience which coincidentally was the setting for a DJ Sneak music video. Hard house, 34 guys playing the drums live, a transvestite on stilts and three female body builders. It was completely overwhelming. Fortunately, there were many more great nights at Industry nightclub to follow. The second was watching David Guetta at the Showcase in Paris, France with two of my best mates. Amazing club, amazing women, phenomenal night.

Too many to name but I have a strong affinity for everything Canadian: A-Trak, Chromeo, Mstrkrft, Deadmau5, and Tiga to name a few.

Idea of heaven:
My idea of heaven would be capturing a single moment. It would be that exact moment in time when you've been flirting with a beautiful woman all night and you drop the perfect line at the perfect moment and you know you have her. Give me that moment, put it in a bottle and let me have.
What you really want to be when you grow up:
I want to be the 5th panelist on Dragon's Den.
